What is a screw-down crown and why does it matter?
A screw-down crown is a threaded winding crown that screws directly into the case, creating a watertight seal that is significantly more secure than a standard push-pull crown. It is found on professional dive watches and high-end tool watches precisely because it provides superior protection against water ingress. On the Carbon, it enhances the already solid 3 ATM water resistance with an additional layer of security for daily wear.
Does the matte finish scratch easily?
The matte finish on the Carbon is applied to high-grade 316L stainless steel, which is inherently resistant to corrosion and maintains its structural integrity under daily wear. Unlike polished finishes where scratches catch the light and become immediately visible, the matte surface is far more forgiving — minor surface marks blend into the texture rather than showing as bright lines. The Carbon is built to be worn, not displayed.
What is the water resistance?
The Carbon is water resistant to 3 ATM (30 metres), enhanced by the reinforced screw-down crown which provides a superior seal beyond standard 3 ATM cases. It is protected against rain, splashes and light swimming. It is not designed for scuba diving or submersion at depth. Always ensure the crown is fully screwed down before exposure to water.
Is the Carbon automatic or quartz?
The Carbon uses a genuine Swiss quartz movement — delivering world-class accuracy with zero maintenance required beyond a battery replacement every 1 to 3 years depending on usage.
Does it come with a warranty?
Yes. Every Aldric Voss timepiece comes with a 12-month movement warranty covering manufacturing defects, plus a 30-day return window. If anything is wrong, we repair, replace or refund — no unnecessary delays.
How do I care for the Carbon?
Wipe the case and bracelet with a soft dry cloth after wear. Avoid abrasive cloths or cleaning products that could affect the matte finish. Always ensure the screw-down crown is fully tightened before exposure to water. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals and perfumes. The Swiss quartz battery will need replacing every 1–3 years — have this done by a qualified watchmaker to ensure the screw-down crown seal is properly maintained after the service.
